January 1st 1914

Bernard and I went skating on pond. I lent Bernard some skates and he shaped fairly well. I found out that Bertha, to make the ice-cream freeze, added some water, and it froze. (lumps of ice in it). I am sure she is fit for Prestwich. Bernard stayed to dinner. Skated in the afternoon. The ice was thawing rapidly and cracked. The pond was swimming with water. Barnard stayed tea. Played with trains in the evening.
