February 18th 1914

I got up as usual as I had some lessons to finish, including a miserable Bradley exercise. I went to the Glee and caught the 4.15 train home, by a rather cunning idea. I waited until all the ticket collectors had finished and then just slipped them. The reason one is not to travel to Eccles on this train is unknown, as it stops to take up, why not stop to put down. Mrs Clarkson and Edith came to tea and Cyril showed them his aeroplane. We had a fair amount of homework.
