March 12th 1914

I got up early as usual. In mathematics we had
an arithmetic test in which I only got 10 marks, the same as Joey Shore. Mayo
gave us a test on irregular verbs in which I got 10 out of 15. Mr Mayo put me
on for Xenophon and I was successful for getting through it alright. There was
a lecture by Doctor Wilfred Grenfell of Labrador. It was a splendid
lecture, one of the best I ever heard, telling us of the work he does out there
in helping the people + building hospitals + works. Parkes came in the evening
