March 17th 1914

I got up early as per usual. In the interval most of the form got a piece of shamrock from Clegg and put it in their buttonholes. Mayo gave us a test on substantives in which I only put the vocative EPLS as EPL instead of EPLS. At seven o’clock I went down to sell programmes at the mutual for Uncle George, after doing a Bradley exercise. Mr Harold Horton was giving recitations which were very good. Bernard got 3s 1d, I got 2s 4d but his side of the room was fuller than mine.
