March 20th 1914

I did not get up till 6:45, as going to Fallowfield we did not do all the homework. In third hour Mr Mayo went through an exercise and all the boys asked as many questions as possible to waste time. Then at 12 o’clock we had a test which lasted quarter of an hour and then Mr Mayo tried to rush in the lesson but it didn’t work. Very few chaps had done any at all. In chemistry we did nitrous oxide. Last hour we went for training to Fallowfield. Mayo went with us. I hoped to see Dish as he said he thought he would be there, but he wasn’t. After tea, Bertha and I went to the crown.
