April 4th 1914

I did some lessons in the morning. In the afternoon we went to the clubroom + left there at about 5 o’clock. Cyril is not now in the orchestra but he went as one of the audience. We went in uniform, of course. The concert went very well; with Pickstone and Bradburn together in the Song of Miriam as Warner was ill with influenza. Pickstone sang “When the heart is young” very well. Joey Shore was there and he played a cello solo, or rather two solos. Then the chief spoke + thanked all the chaps, as usual, + then we went home.
